Chesney Lee Hawkes was born in Swindon, Wiltshire on the 22nd September 1971 and was named after the singer and comedian Chesney Allen. Both his mother, Carol Dilworth, and father, Len 'Chip' Hawkes, were involved in the entertainment business, with Carol being an actress/game show hostess and father being a singer in the former 1960's band The Tremeloes.
