“Wilco” group appeared in 1994 thanks to the participants of the former alt-country team “Uncle Tupelo”. Army slang phrase was chosen as the name – ‘will comply’. The guitarist Jeff Tweedy became an arranger, singer and songwriter, along with bassist John Stirratt. During the first years of their creative activity (in the debut disc “A.M.”) a traditional sound of an alternative country prevails. In a couple of years the sound becomes closer to rock traditions. “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” (2002), has been acknowledged as the best one by some US media. “A Ghost Is Born” disc received two Grammy awards (2004). The disc “Sky Blue Sky” has become a best-seller.
About Wilco
Busy Schedule
It took about two years to make us prepared for this musical group. “Wilco” released their first double-disc album “Being There”, which conceived a huge success among the masses. This album brought thousands of possibilities to the group, which meant the victory over themselves. After the release of the album “Being There”, “Wilco” maintained a regular schedule of relentless touring and found time to work with Billy Bragg on previously unknown songs by Woody Guzri; at the same time, they worked on different projects, giving more and more concerts.
Deep Sense
Much has changed during transition years. The group was developing, then was tired, then again was fascinated by something new. The album “Summerteeth” has a special meaning, but it can vary depending on what you pay more attention to, listening to these songs. “Summerteeth” is one of the most poetic, melodic and meaningful works of “Wilco”. The words of the songs of this album are ironic, they spread their essence on the table, so as to adopt them or to kill. Sometimes, accompanied by music, the songs expose the dark side of the sense that is usually not compatible. The group also came up with a way to present these songs: every year and a half, they overwrite them in different studios and perform at gigs after the tour concerts.
