Tory Lanez is a stage name of Daystar Peterson, the Canadian rapper, singer, composer, producer, director, and the fashion designer. He was born on July 27, 1992 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Lanez together with the brother founded One Umbrella label in Toronto. He became famous thanks to the mixtapes “Conflicts of Mu Soul: The 416 Story” and “Lost Cause”. In 2015, he let out EP “Cruel Intentions” on WeDidlt Records label. His debut album “I Told You” left in 2016.

Childhood
He moved to Miami, Florida with his family and at 9, Daystar began to read rap. At 11, his mother died and they often moved with his father from place to another. At 15, he comes back to Toronto and finds out that they lost the house and Daystar was homeless for some time. At 16, Tory Lanez begins to perform at the concerts on the open areas. At 17, he begins to learn to sing independently.
Challenge
In 2009, Tory Lanez gave start to the musical career having let out a debut mixtape “T.L 2 T.O”. In 2010, Tory challenged the other Canadian rapper Drake, having promised to pay him 10 thousand dollars if he listens to his second mixtape “Playing for Keeps” and does not like it. Drake listened and allowed Tory to leave the money.
Sean Kingston
After the story with Drake, Tory Lanez began to shoot videos and to show them on the channel at YouTube. Sean Kingston saw the video where Lanez freestyled Lloyd Banks’ track – “Beamer. Benz, or Bentley”, and liked his manner of performance. In 2010, Sean Kingston contacted Tory Lanez and gave him a chance to perform live during the tour “Mu World Tour's TenOs's”. Also in 2010, Tory lets out three mixtapes: “Just Landed”, “One Verse One Hearse”, and “Mr. 1 Verse Killah”. Thanks to the increased popularity, he subscribed for Sean Kingston's label Tune Is Money Entertainment. After signing the deal, he was engaged in the release of mixtapes, including “Mr. Peterson” and “Chixtape”. After he left the label, he released his 8th mixtape “Swavey”.
