The Barbican Centre is a relatively new venue situated on Paragon Street, not far from the town centre of York. Used for all sorts of entertainment events, such as concerts, family shows or comedy performances as well as for conferences, the place can accommodate up to 1900 visitors. The building was erected in 1989 and was closed in 2004 due to a series of issues. In 2011, it was ultimately renovated and reopened. The most famous event that takes place here is the UK snooker championship.
