Jersey Boys tickets

For fans of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, Jersey Boys Musical is a show not to be missed. Since opening on Broadway in 2005, the musical has had two tours of the United States, taking in Las Vegas, Chicago and a host of other American cities. It has also been seen in Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and many European venues. The show made its London West End debut in 2008. Jersey Boys has won many awards including four Tony Awards, a Grammy and the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical.

Jersey Boys Story and Background

The show came about because Bob Gaudio, an original member of the Four Seasons, wanted to make a musical using the discography of the band. He hired two writers, Rick Elice and Marshall Brickman and a director, Des McAnuff. It was Marshall Brickman that suggested a storyline about the band themselves, as they had all led quite colourful lives! So Jersey Boys was to become a musical which would tell their story from humble beginnings to fame and fortune and their eventual break-up. The Broadway production is still running and, with over 4000 performances up to September last year, is the 12th longest running show on Broadway.

The Show’s Success

Premiering in London in 2008, Jersey Boys had the same creative team of McAnuff, Brickman and Elice that had taken the show to Broadway. As far as Jersey Boys reviews are concerned, the British press with Quentin Letts of the Daily Mail says, “I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed it! This is a big thumper of a show with fantastic songs.” After a provincial try-out in San Diego, Jersey Boys opened to rave reviews on Broadway in the autumn of 2005. New York Times critic, Ben Brantley, wrote “The crowd goes wild.” and “the real, mostly middle-aged crowd at the August Wilson Theater, who seem to have forgotten what year it is or how old they are.”
