Paul Simon Tickets

Paul Frederic Simon was born on October 13, 1941. His musical career started during his studies, when he and his friend Art Garfunkel played at school parties, imitating the style of “Everly Brothers”. In 1957, the duo, called “Tom & Jerry”, issued the single “Hey Schoolgirl”. The album hit the charts, and since then, Paul began to write and record his own songs regularly. He worked together with other musicians and solo, but often preferred to hide under pseudonyms.

Early Works

His most famous things of that period are “Motorcycle” performed by the group “Tico & The Triumphs” and “The Long Teen Ranger”, issued under the name of Jerry Landis. In the early 60s, Simon and Garfunkel reunited and released their debut album on Columbia Records. It failed, but Paul received an offer from the British firm CBS to release a solo album. The album, published in England, has not caused much interest, but thanks to the producer Tom Wilson the project “Simon & Garfunkel” was restored. Over the next five years, the duo became one of the most popular American acts, but after the release of the most successful album “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, they broke.

Solo Career

When Simon returned to his solo career, he initially continued to work in the same direction as the band “Simon & Garfunkel”. Though his first work did not reached the heights of “Bridge Over Troubled Water”, a million of its copies were sold. And the composition “Mother And Child” in a reggae style, visited the hot ten. Equally successful was the disc “There Goes Rhymin 'Simon” and it grab platinum. It gave birth to such hits as “Kodachrome” and “Loves Me like A Rock”. Releasing a live album “Live Rhymin’”, Paul returned the following year with a studio disc “Still Crazy After All These Years”. The album contained No. 1 hit “50 Ways To Leave Your Lover” that occupied the top of Billboard and received the Grammy.

Reunion

In the early '80s, the reunion of “Simon & Garfunkel” took place and Paul even started working on new materials for the duo, but then changed his mind and released “Hearts And Bones” as a solo. The album flew past the charts, and the musician disappeared from the sight for three years.

Other Works

Simon’s return to the studio work was marked by the release of the album “Graceland” where he has expressed his interest in the South African rhythms. This work brought another Grammy and became the top-seller in his discography. Next studio disc was also sustained in the genre of world music, but this time Simon was inspired by Brazilian music. Later Simon was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Glory as a solo artist.
