The Liverpool Guild of Students, situated at 160, Mount Pleasant, is the Liverpool University Students Union. It was founded in 1889, and the building was constructed in 1911. The Guild is the hub of student life and activity for the University. It is managed by four annually elected sabbatical officers from the students. After a refurbishment costing over 14 million pounds in 2015, there is now a theatre, a cinema, four bars, two dance studios, a nightclub and a concert venue with a capacity of 2,300. Live shows, gigs and comedy acts are regularly hosted there.
