Future participants of the English alternative team “Manic Street Preachers” were born in a small miner's town Blackwood in South Wales. The prototype of “street preachers” appeared in 1988 under the name “Betty Blue”. This formation was founded by the bassist Nicky Wire; it also included James Dean Bradfield (vocals, guitar), Sean Moore (drums), and Flicker (guitar).
