Kate Victoria Tunstall, known as KT Tunstall, was born in the Scottish capital on June 23, 1975. When she became 20, she realized that she wanted to be a rock star. She started to sing in some indie groups. KT has not achieved popularity, but the band “Red Light Stylus”, where she was a member, got good feedback from critics. This did not satisfy KT and she began her solo career, writing her own lyrics and music. Her "live" performances made her known thanks to her masterful guitar playing.
About KT Tunstall
Lucky Chance
In 2004, she let out a debut disk “Eye To The Telescope” but this extraordinary piece of music occupied only the 73rd place in the charts of Britain because of the low popularity of Kate. However, fortune has changed everything, after her participation in the show ‘Later with Jools Holland’. KT prepared the lead single, a ballad “Black Horse And The Cherry Tree”, and played it just fine. It made her famous in Britain. The debut disk was reissued and this time, it took the 3rd place in the chart. Through chance, Tunstall also conquered the US. A participant of ‘American Idol’, Katharine McPhee, performed at the competition “Black Horse And The Cherry Tree”. Thanks to this, all the States started talking about her.
Collaboration
Tunstall began collaborating with such prominent musicians as Missy Elliott and the band “Radiohead”. In 2006, Kate issued an acoustic disc entitled “KT Tunstall's Acoustic Extravaganza”. Here she demonstrated a virtuoso guitar playing. Alongside with this, KT takes part in numerous shows, concerts and tours in support of her album.
In 2007, her second studio disk, “Drastic Fantastic” was let out. The lead single, “Hold On”, is a real example of folk music.
