About Joe Bonamassa

Youth

Being still a teenager, Joe got acquainted with the son of the bass player of “Allman Brothers Band” Berry Oakley and organized the “Bloodline” project with him. The group concluded the contract with “EMI Records” and let out the album based on the heavy blues, boogie, funk and the southern rock. Two songs, “Stone Cold Hearted” and “Dixie Peach”, got to charts but, despite the success, the team was dismissed. Bonamassa decided that he can do more than just play the guitar, and began to train vocal skills.

Solo career

In 2000, Joe recorded the first solo album, “A New Day Yesterday”. By then, the talented young blues rocker was famous, therefore it was no wonder that in the recording participated such persons as Gregg Sllmen, Rick Derindger, and Lesley West. “A New Day Yesterday” was made in the spirit of such teams as “Cream”, “Lynyrd Skynyrd”, “Jeff Beck Group”, “Allman Brothers Band”, and the header track was a cover on the composition of 1969 with the same name of “Jethro Tull’s” group.

Touring and the New Works

Bonamassa devoted the year 2001 to tours, and in 2002 returned to the studio. In 2003, the musician selected 9 favourite tracks from the classics of the genre, added three his own compositions to them and recorded the disk “Blues Deluxe”. The same year Bonamassa was involved in the program “Blues in the Schools”, within which he gave lectures about the blues followed by his concerts. In 2004, there was the 3rd album, which continued the line of the predecessor. Influences of such performers as B. B. King, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy, “Yardbirds”, and “Cream” were reflected in “Had To Cry Today”.
