The British unemployed, who apply for benefits, fill out a questionnaire, the so-called form UB40. Hence the name of the unusually numerous Birmingham team “UB40”. None of the eight original members suffered from lingering unemployment, but social and political problems they took very seriously. In Birmingham, which witnessed the birth of an octet “UB40” in 1978, reggae has been extremely popular. Barrowland
Barrowland is a music venue and dance hall, located in Glasgow. It started its history in 1934. The street market “Barras” which determined the name of the ballroom, is present till this day. The building was destroyed back in the 1958 by a fire, but was rebuilt and opened two years later. In the past few years Barrowland Ballroom has become a famous venue, boasting 2100 people seating capacity. It hosted The Clash, U2, Oasis and many other popular bands.
