About Frank Turner
Early Years
Frances Edward Turner was born on the 28th December 1981 in Bahrain where his father was working as an investment banker. On their return to England, the family settled in Hampshire. Turner won a scholarship to Eton College and from there he went to and studied History at the London School of Economics.
His musical career began when he was at school when he was in a band called Kneejerk. They did actually release three records and had a short tour of the UK. In 2001 Turner joined Million Dead and was with them for four years during which time they released two albums.
Solo Success
After Million Dead split, Turner had a short stint with the band Reuben. He then released his first solo EP, 'Campfire Punkrock' in 2006. His first studio album was released early in 2007, entitled 'Sleep is for The Week'. There then came an extensive tour, and he released another EP, 'The Real Damage' in May 2007. His second album, 'Love, Ire & Song' was released in 2008 which Turner followed with several summer festival appearances including Glastonbury.
The third album, 'Poetry of The Deed', came in 2009 and since then Turner has continued touring and recording almost non-stop. As a matter of fact, it changed the musical career of the star entirely. He is especially popular on the festival circuit. He has released three more albums, his fourth ‘England Keep My Bones', released in 2011 being his most successful so far.
