About Foals

The Beginning

The band was originally formed by Andrew Mears, the lead singer of the band Youthmovies. He was involved with them for their 1st single, ‘Try This On Your Piano / Look At My Furrows Of Worry’. After that, he started to focus on Youthmovies. After the present line-up got together in 2007, they released two limited edition singles, 'Hummer' and 'Mathletics'. In the summer of that year, they started work on 'Antidotes', in New York. It was released in early 2008. The album was a great success in the UK and went into the charts at number three.

From Then Until Now

In 2009 the group started work on their 2nd album, 'Total Life Forever', in Sweden and it was eventually released in 2010. Two successful singles came from this album, 'Spanish Sahara' and 'This Orient'. The 3rd album, 'Holy Fire', was released in the UK in February 2013 and also in the States at the same time. This album was recorded in London and again produced two successful singles, 'Inhaler' and 'My Number'. At the end of that year, they toured the UK extensively. Album number four, 'What Went Down', was released in 2015 and early 2016, Foals toured the UK and Europe followed by a tour of the US. Foals are seen to be one of the top live acts in the UK and were nominated for the NME Best Live Act Award in 2011 and 2013 and also winning the Q Award for Best Live Act in 2013.
