David Guetta is one of the most established DJs and music producers of all times. Born in Paris, France, in 1967, David Guetta discovered the hypnotic effect of house music when he was 20, listening to a Farley Funk single on the radio. It was love at first listening. He then started mixing in big Parisian night clubs such as Le Central or Folies Pigalle. After releasing the mini-club-hit “Up & Away” together with Robert Owens, his path was clear.
About David Guetta
The path to success
His journey to fame began in night clubs, where he continued playing until 2002, when he released his first album, “Just a Little More Love”, not before co-founding Gum Productions in 2001. His international recognition started when he met Robert Owens at one of his own performances. It was then when they released “Up & Away”, a catchy track with a great outcome for these two new friends.
“Pop Life”, his third album released in 2007, sold over 530.000 copies worldwide, reaching the first position on Billboard Hot 100. One year later, he received the “Best House DJ” title by DJ Awards.
More hits to come
2009 was another great year for the popular French DJ – he released “One Love”, his fourth studio album, soon followed by the well-known singles “Sexy Bitch”, featuring Akon and “When Love Takes Over”, with Kelly Rowland. The latter peaked at number 1 in the UK, selling over 5,4 million copies all around the world. The hit also received two Grammy nominations, winning the one for Best Remixed Recording in 2011. The album itself was nominated for “Best Electronic/Dance Album” at Grammy Awards. Of course, the successful series didn’t stop here – soon after, “I Gotta Feeling” featuring The Black Eyed Peas followed. The single had tremendous success, adding another name to Guetta’s “hit list”. Actually, the track was so appreciated, that it was downloaded over 7 million times in America alone, receiving the title of “The Most Downloaded Song Ever”.
