Formed as recently as October 2014, indie rock band Clay have been making waves on the UK music scene in almost no time at all. Based in Leeds, the band comprises of siblings Joe and Jack Harvey, both on guitar and the former the lead singer, bassist Rob Gration, and drummer Danny Armitage. Combining indie guitar rock with a sunny slice of psychedelic pop, Clay might be young, but they are ready-made for success. And so far, they seem to be living up to their potential!

Formed “as a result of a collective ambition to get out of suburban Leeds and see the world”, so says Joe Harvey, Clay has quickly gained a strong following in a very short space of time. Their first released song, “Sun Dance”, with its relaxed vibe and DIY video put together from a series of 90s VHS tapes to give it a retro vibe, was noticed by famed Radio 1 DJ Zane Lowe almost immediately. The song was even featured on HBO TV series Ballers on the other side of the Atlantic, and the immediate exposure has enabled the band to continue on their path. A handful of further singles, “Oxygen” and “Stay Calm!”, also helped maintain their momentum, leading to festival appearances and increased airplay, alongside an ever-increasing fanbase wolfing down whatever the band were creating. The release of their debut EP, Heaven, on 15th July 2016 on Lucky Man Records promises greater things from the band, showcasing their ability to mix guitar rock with the latest pop techniques and hooks. An upcoming tour across the UK for the band looks to be successful, with dates in Manchester, Cardiff, Liverpool, London, and of course their hometown of Leeds. Their coterie of hardcore fans and admirers are surely looking forward to whatever this band will release next.
