O2 Academy Bournemouth is a grade-II listed live entertainment venue. Located in Bournemouth, Dorset, England, the building was originally built in 1895 as a theatre. It went through a solid refurbishment in 1982. In July 2009 it switched owners and opened doors as the O2 Academy. With a capacity of 1800 people, the facility has space for a lot of fun. Getting there
The venue is located on 570 Christchurch Rd, Boscombe BH1 4BH, United Kingdom, and there are several ways of getting there:
By train and tube: Pokesdown is the closest station – about 15 minutes away from the building. After you exit the station, you will see Christchurch Rd just in front of you. Use that road and head south-west only on it, until you will reach the venue.
By bus: numbers 2, 26, 33, 85, 86 and 87 can lead you to a bus station near the Academy. Navigate south on Ashley St and switch streets on the crossroad with Christchurch Rd. Continue walking until you reach the building.
By car: follow A35 direction; it will lead you straight to the venue.
International: take a rail from Bournemouth, Christchurch or Hinton Admiral. Exit at Pokesdown station and have a walk to the venue (direction shown above).
Parking facilities
You can leave your vehicle at Hawkwood Road main car park. The park is equipped with two disabled parking bays with spots for Blue Badgers. Free local on-street parking is also available.
